Yggdrasil (40.8176027, -73.9613936), 2019
reclaimed tree, copper, steel, polystrene foam, soil, salt, stone, debris
105 x 75 x 153 inches
The protagonist of the installation is a fallen tree sourced from a grass verge between Riverside Park and Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan. Such a littered strip of land is the ecosystem that I studied and drew inspiration from for this installation. I imagine the story of this specific fallen tree by expanding on the possible causes of its death, as well its potential future lives.
