Ultramarine Factory, 2016
installation: screenprints on architecture paper(1 x 1 yard each), metal and wood workshop machinery, building materials, thread, rotating motors, branches, neon lights, found objects
550 × 500 × 450 cm; 18'1'' × 16'4'' × 14'9''
Ultramarine Factory is a site-specific installation that includes the already existing machines and raw building materials found in a 20th century mill in Upstate New York. The installation reactivates the factory building into a site that produces the color ultramarine and the associations connected to the once precious pigment. The fifty 1x1 yard ultramarine colored screenprints move in subtle ways due to the wind coming through the broken windows of the mill. The rearranged machinery suggests and imaginary production line. Found objects and paper planes are linked together by thread that spans the entire space and rotate with small motors.
